>Comments and criticisms are welcome and appreciated. In response
to such suggestions, I have used Apistan as a finishing treatment on two
of the six hives under observation.

What is the response curve to Apistan? Anyone know? So far, it does
not seem to be doing anything and I put it in five days ago.

You mention in this email Apistan, but in your diary you said it was
Apivar,
both of them have different active principles, which one did you use?

I do not have a reference for the daily drop in response to either
Fluvalinate or Amitraz, but talking from experience, most of the drop of
foretic mites happens in the first 5 days. Then again after 12 to 16 days
of treatment you have a second high drop (probably due to emergence of new
bees).

However my observation of treatment is usually with much higher ambient
temperature, so do not know when bees at clustered with temp under 5°C.

Looking at your data, the hives with the Heilyser OA treatment
(particularly N3 and N4) have a higher daily drop after the dec 23
treatment than the ones with the "hard" chemical, what make me believe
there is a temp issue involved.
