In Langstroth's *The Hive and the Honeybee*, 3rd edition (1859), as
published in Hoopingarner, *The Hive and the Honeybee Revisited* (2006),
Langstroth writes:

"In the summer of 1854, I ascertained that, under some circumstances, bees
will use fine shavings of wax to build new comb." (Hoopingarner, p. 70)

Is anyone aware of 1. Further writings of Langstroth on this subject or 2.
Further research that has been conducted on this subject.

Thanks.
