I certainly don't know to whom you referring. The reactions to scientific papers generally fall into two camps. One, dismiss it because scientists are all overblown, self-important funding seekers. 

Two, regard it as another stepping stone on the path to greater understanding of how the world works. A meandering path that has no discernible beginning, and certainly no end. 

One can argue about the style of the archer, and point to the bull-eyes he's hit, but the better archer is the one who consistently hits the target over time.
