Charlie, are you assuming this, or have you actually checked?  The few times that I checked, I did not observe this to occur.

I have observed several  times multiple foundress mites,  and noted what appears to be many early larve removed prematurely. but have no proof that this is the "mechanism" at work,  How else could you explain a brood break helping with mites???
