There is a "unifying hypothesis" or explanation, of the observations that different cultures have dietary and bahvioural lifestyles that result in increased morbidity and mortality in the US and Canada but not elsewhere. The French eat high fat foods and live well, the Germans love their beer and do well, the Italians have a rich diet and do well. So all of those things are not really the problem - it is speaking english!
