Great quote, Pete!  When I was in graduation school, the first generations
of computers (punch card) were allowing us to crank huge data sets to look
for correlations and significant differences.

I initially got so hung up on cranking data, that my advisor told me to
actually look more carefully at the organisms that I was studying.  His
words have stuck with me since.

I find that much of the hype about bees is based upon soundbites of data,
rather than a deeper understanding of what is actually going on with the
organism and its interactions with the environment as a whole.
