my comments...
when I got my 50 year pin I read CC Miller's '50 years among the bees'.  my favorite, if you can find it, is either of the two small books written by Jay Smith.  although more related to queen rearing than any other topic of interest there is a lot of advice in those books that is still quite pertinent and for me Mr Smith writing style reflects a certain degree of a bent sense of humor (which I think all beekeepers should try to emulate).
