I guess what is lost in this is the whole question of PMIB and if it is as
important and heritable as Tom Rinderer was saying.  PMIB  was at the top of
their list.  If SMR is not what they thought, and the mnechanism was not
what they thought, then where does that leave PMIB? (or is it P-MIB)?

For the record, I count John's SMR work as a huge success, and really good
work.  It hit paydirt, even though he was proven wrong in some details.
