I would recommend that you try the dry ice method I mentioned in
my posting last week.  It has been ten years since I did the work,
but as I recall, we got pretty good mortality.  I bought a circular
cookie cutter about and inch deep, depressed it into the comb, and
added about one half inch of dry ice.  The cutter leaves a nice
circular mark, and you don't have to woory with cutting comb and
comb placement.  This method also leaves the cappings untouched,
and would simulate an AFB situation.
 
I am just plain curious why no queen breeders are selling hygienic
queens, after all the press Steve Tabor has given the subject, and
the simple logic of the process.  I would pay more for queens
carrying this trait, and it is quantifiable, unlike most of the
subjective criteria used by queen breeders.
