I can't remember if this topic has been discussed on this list:
 
Which is more advantageous in the brood chamber - 10 frames or 9 frames?
 
I know the answer for supers:  frames easier to uncap and less weight in
the super.
 
BTW I'm a chiropractor by profession so I recommend proper lifting
proceedures to my beekeeper patients to prevent low back problems.
