For Pete's sake, you have been around the scientific community to know that all scientists use qualifiers. That's because all science is provisional. 

This statement was placed in the abstract of the paper and represents a definitive conclusion derived from the findings. 

They are not saying it always does this. They are also NOT saying maybe does, maybe doesn't, you never know about these things, etc.
