IWF was a private company operating on government grants. It seems the 
money dried up.

Die IWF Wissen und Medien hat zum 31.12.2010 den Betrieb eingestellt und 
befindet sich seit 01.01.2011 in Liquidation. Vorübergehend können daher 
die Medien der IWF-Sammlung weder zum Kauf noch zum Erwerb von 
Nutzungsrechten angeboten werden. Im Rahmen der Liquidation soll die 
IWF-Sammlung auf eine geeignete Einrichtung übertragen werden, die 
gewährleistet, dass die Medien auch in Zukunft zur Nutzung in 
Wissenschaft und Lehre zur Verfügung stehen. Hierfür gibt es 
verschiedene Optionen, deren Prüfung voraussichtlich noch einige Zeit in 
Anspruch nehmen wird. Sobald eine Entscheidung getroffen ist, werden Sie 
auf dieser Seite informiert.

My translation:
