>Perhaps you could elaborate a bit. Or not
I hesitate to share things that a researcher has said in conversation,
preferring to allow them to publish their opinions themselves. What was
posted to the List was:
>Interesting to me is that uncapping/recapping is the only trait known that
is common to all studied resistant populations:
I replied: The senior author has shifted his opinion since that
publication.
I never said that he " changed his position that uncapping/recapping is a
ubiquitous feature found in the resistant populations."
In my discussion with him, we discussed our observations that beyond
uncapping/recapping being ubiquitous, that some removal of infested brood
often took place to some extent, and that uncapping alone might not be
enough for full mite control.
In my own stock, colonies that engage only in extensive uncapping/recapping
are unable to keep mite levels to zero without also incorporating pupal
removal to some extent.
I will let Dr. Martin speak for himself when he chooses to publish.
