I will stay out of the chicken blood debate...

But So far beekeepers seem to like it,  as well as bees.  Problem still is price.  Much higher than other foods.

As for SHB,  there are many that are  "less attractive"  but that’s like  "less filling beer"  very subjective.

So far with many trial  the only subs that seem to help with beetles are the very high oil ones like nutra bee.  It "seems" that eggs laid in it suffocate and have a very, very low hatch rate.   Also avoid subs with paper.  The beetles oviposit under it and the bees cant clean up the eggs.
