Whatever the attitudes and presumptions about neonics, Marla Spivak's latest research illuminating the extremely significant decline of brood rearing activity, and the near cessation of pollen gathering and consumption, should mightily shake any sense of well-being when exposed to neonics of any kind, Ag or Urban.

Neonics may not cause the bee deaths outright, but one look at her graphs and charts points out that entire colonies might be diminished to the point of failure.

Apologies if she has widely presented these findings to those on this list, but I had my first exposure to her new work last week, and whatever assumptions that I held have been completely reset by her findings.

Neonics are much more serious than anyone has presumed. The fact that they are pervasive in big box store consumer products, pollinator plant dunks, municipal tree injections - all of it has now invaded the urban landscape - Marla's numbers being nothing short of jaw-dropping.
