My preference is wood grooved top and bottoms bars and snap in waxed black Pierco. 
I prefer black waxed Pierco for full frames. Don't let them warp if you dip them. 
There is no need to apply extra wax, but the bees will draw them out better and faster if you have the time. 
Don't try unwaxed and if you do, only in med. supers on a fantastic flow.
Mann Lake did have some poor grade of plastic in the full frame, sorry to say. The ends were cracking off and even would crack the top bar with flexing. I hope they fixed it. 
The bees will make drone over worker foundation when they please. No worrys. I only cut it off if it's cross comb and they redraw it. 
Of course they do stick the boxes together, but that just builds muscle and character trying to split the boxes apart. Wax must adhere to plastic better than wood.
