Dear Jim, and others too..
 
You may try using lyophylized royal jelly which is readily available in
the market as a primer. Add few drops of distilled water to the royal
jelly powder to make a thick solution. I have been using this under
tropical condition with more than 80% successful < for Apis cerana anyway>.
