Thanks Peter!  We took final data from 20 high-mite (mean 9.7% mites;
median 8.3%) hives today, many weak to start with.
Applied 10g thymol in glycerine on cotton pads between brood chambers 10
days apart. Took final mite counts after 28 days.
Daytime highs consistently in the mid 90sF (37C), poor forage conditions.
That amount of thymol hit the weak colonies pretty hard, but most were
coming back by the end.
Final mite counts reduced by 89% mean; 96% median (no controls).

Another observation: zero mite kill in remaining sealed brood, even where
some brood was removed due to treatment.

So thymol still appears to work in my operation, at least at high dose.
Thank goodness!
