An allergic reaction could be possible even if you showed no signs of an
allergy before. Often your body will not trigger a reaction until it has
been exposed a certain number of times and some people do not show signs
of allergies until they are 40 years old. Once, triggered though it will
always be with you. Another question would be whether you were taking
any medication at the time. Certain medications will cause bad reactions
if you are out in the sun while taking them. So that could be possible.
