Was registered in early '90's as "Miticur."  Registration withdrawn by mfr
after lawsuit by beekeepers (instance of shooting selves in foot).  Current
resistance due to widespread off label use.  Unfortunate that amitraz,
which is perhaps the best synthetic so far, is unavailable legally to
beekeepers in the U.S.  A company is trying to register, but EPA has issues
with the chemical.

As Peter suggested, or system of pesticide registration is not friendly for
small industries such as beekeeping.
