Drone larvae were found to be clearly
susceptible to AFB in this exposure bioassay
confirming the observations of Woodrow and
Holst (1942) that not only workers but also
drone and queen larvae can become infected

Nevertheless, it is possible that drone larvae
respond differently to infection with AFB
than worker larvae due to developmental differences,
for example a different time span between
moultings.
