I take a 30 lb pail and drill 1/2 inch holes spaced 2" apart around the
bottom just above the edge of the bottom.
It's mounted on an inverted lid with some drain holes in case of rain  and
all is mounted on a tripod or four legs
pushed into the ground.  Stands about 2 ft off the ground.
In it goes Feedbee - the substitute pollen , about a cup or two and the lid
goes on. They sit about 20 ft out from the hives
in the yard with multiple pails available to them.

As Trevor mentioned , bees roll around in it  and leave very happy.  This I
do only in the spring while nature
decides what to do.
I gave up on bought patties and making patties.  Although once at a queen
rearing meeting
a queen producer from California said he mixes pure brewers yeast with
syrup and slaps it on
nucs that then thrive really well. Will be testing that this year.
