Three is a good age to begin. I bought my son a beesuit for his third birthday and had him by my side all summer.

What you will also need is a good box for the little girl to stand on so she'll be able to get a good view into the hive.

Usually, the three-year-old beekeeper will lose interest in working the hives before you do, and find new sides to your apiary that you never thought of.
