I think most of us here know what science is and try to practise it, knowing its purpose, methods, and limitations.  

The problem is the popular use of the word, where the word 'science' is equated to dogma and used to discourage questioning and debate, rather than encouraging it. 

Thus the Subject line.  My mistake. 'Science' should have been enclosed in quotes.
