As Randy and Jerry mentioned, soapy water works, and well. We often use 
a soap based foam in our eradication work. Don't think it qualifies as 
'humane' as it disrupts nerve transmission, similar to several pesticide 
MOA's. For AHB colonies, we just pump in the entrance until the covers 
start rising uniformally, voila!

CO2 would qualify as humane, as the bees just 'go to sleep'. We use CO2 
routinely in research. Be sure to keep them in CO2 environment longer 
than you think. I've had plenty of "dead" insects recover and escape!
