Gwen asked: "Have any of you had any **actual** bee/banana interactions?
Any stories of a snack gone awry? Is this an urban myth?"

I was moving a hive that had never bothered me. On the way to the destination, I stopped by my favorite health food store to chat with the owner. Realized I was hungry and bought one of their bananas. Got back in the closed van with bees about 4 feet way, and enjoyed the banana as I drove down the freeway. Got to the destination, moved the hive into position, removed the screen closure and they were on me like white on rice. Remembered eating the banana; washed my hands and returned to the hive to make a few adjustments, and they were as good as gold. And have been on every visit thereafter.

On another occasion, I received a complaint from a jogger about a colony in a tree that stung him when he jogged by. When I stood under the tree, they ignored me. On a guess, I asked him if he ate a banana while jogging. Answer was yes. Suggested he stop doing that. Followed up a week later, and he said the bees no longer bothered him.
