...I don't think this has everything to do with the subject at hand, but it is related, and I think, interesting.

One of the best shows on NPR is This American Life...a couple of weeks ago a story started just as I was pulling in to get a bit to eat...I sat in the car for 35 minutes and listened.  An interesting story related to cancer research, fringe science (Rife frequencies), and some of the problems interfacing the professional researcher with the enthusiastic amateur (with some evidence of positive results)...they have differing goals and needs.

I should also say that I was a music major at Skidmore...and runner up for the music scholarship that the now cancer researcher won (always a bridesmaid...).  Dr. Holland was my advisor/supervisor for my "thesis" (that's what we called it...I think it was more of a long paper exploring some original ideas with a historical perspective) on improving the saxophone (no, I'm not kidding)...and I played clarinet in the orchestra under his direction :)
