Don and Dave asked about brood in hives in Edmonton Alberta. Hives were just wrapped last week after we finished our examination. Having said that they are exposed to the current environment. Fall as you are aware is unusual in our region. It has been mild and warm. By the way bees have been bringing canola pollen from volunteer canola in bloom for sometime.
Dave: yes I am worried about feed. Top box is full. I plan to open wraps and fill division board feeder once more this week.
The lesson from this report. We can't judge hives status by looks and time of the year. Micro- climate has much to determine what bees are doing inside that box.
