I use a headband light for grafting and when moving hives at night, but it is not much good inside a veil - just lights up the mesh - and is impossible to fix outside the veil.

I am over 70, but can see eggs easily in reasonable light - I am short-sighted so can look over the top of my glasses and focus at around 6". This year I picked up a small LED pencil flashlight at Beetradex - Vita were giving them away - and I have to say that it works very well on a dull day; the trick is to shine it at the right angle down into the cells.

Have not yet tried yellow lenses but I will - just have to find some clip-ons or I will not see anything much beyond the end of my nose!

Best wishes
