I have used my bottling tank also, but now I use a barrel heater. It is a
flat rubber band strapped around the barrel and has a thermostat to control
the temp. I just use a drill with a paint stirrer to mix it better. I use a
55 gallon because it will hold 400 pounds of sugar easily. Adding about 25
gallons of water gives you a 2:1 mix and then I have syrup whenever I need
it. If you want 1:1, just add some more water after you get out of the
barrel. I bought a barrel pump from Harbor Freight to pump the syrup out so
the lid stays in place always to keep the bees out.
