Not to start an off-topic thread or trigger an avalanche of opinions, I 
want to offer this link to and article which parallels our discussions 
here about bee gut organisms and the possibility of far-ranging effects 
as a reference.  It also has some relevance due to the widespread use of 
fumagillan, even by beekeepers who do not use other antibiotics.

This also reminds me of my unanswered question some time back as to why, 
for the first time, did I have a massive (total) varroa-related loss in 
a year when I treated my hives with an antibiotic against AFB when I had 
no such problem previously when I did not.
