"They were all doing great the last time I looked..."

What does that mean? Did you remove honey? How many boxes? How many frames of bees, brood? What are your mite levels?

>Today I go out and fine 4 of my 8 hives with copious amounts of dead bees outside as well as in. All bees are dead with a few odd wigglers... was it starvation in a drought/dearth OR herbicide contact/exposure??

What about the other four? Your answer is there.

Why would four get sprayed, weakened, or killed by spray and not the other four.
