The senior author has shifted his opinion since that publication.

There has always been recapping behavior -- it's the uncapping behavior
that is of interest.
Uncapping followed by recapping is indeed low-cost investment for a small
amount of return.
My own non-resistant colonies exhibit a high amount of recapping, but don't
control their mites.
My resistant colonies couple uncapping with some degree of VSH.  The
combination is successful.
