What I look for, and have vigorously proposed to both EPA and the chemical registrants is to do more "ground truthing." One way is to visit ag areas and observe whether a diversity of pollinators manages to survive.

Interesting idea, how do you establish baselines? Many of the speices counts vary widely season to season, month to month etc. In my area many of the pollinators are wasp and mosquitoes, both of which are more numerous as the season progresses.
