Subject: RE: [BEE-L] Lorsban // Clorpirifos

Hi my name is Dennis a beekeeper from New Zealand.
I run a thousand hives and put them into Kiwifruit Pollination.
We have had the same problem with the spraying of Lorsban and other chems as
you guys do. We as a group of beekeepers went after the orchard owners and
spray contractors and were able to get a couple of prosecutions against them
which has opened their eyes, now the orchard owners and spray contractors
are more open to talking with us and using the products better. We still
have problems in certain areas and/or with individuals but at least the
lines of communication are better. We gone to talk at growers fieldays and
fruit packhouses so try to have a bit of education as well. It didn't happen
over night in fact we have been at them for about 15 years or more but now
there seems a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel.
