We had a discussion a sometime back about what I and a few others on the
list had heard called Black Spanish bees, which fortunately don't seem so
common around the Central Coast anymore. But they were blacker and just as
mean as those I kept in South Africa. The swarms I get lately are usually
mild, although you get the mean hive occasionally. Here is a swarm that
came to some stored equipment at my house a few days ago.
