Many beekeepers wonder if CCD is/was a beekeeper caused malady and I would put myself 
in that camp. 

I cant help but ponder that, extending the life cycle of workers could easily have 
implications in disrupting a hive and how it regulates brood rearing, food stores and 
wintering. 

In my view sticking with the basics and minimizing inputs and manipulations is the key to 
healthy bees.
