Thanks Juanse for fixing the butchered link. The 'raincoat' is actually more to keep our wet heavy snow from saturating the lids. I have always drilled vent holes in my boxes. Usually the entrances are reduced but not always.I fooled around with some rigid insulation cut the size of a lid and thought it helped keep the clusters a bit looser in cold weather. Excess moisture seems to be a problem more with weak hives than the stronger ones. Clusters are smaller this winter than usual, reflecting our terrible drought and mite loads that got too high, too early. We are getting an old fashioned snowy winter like we used to get years ago. I think that will finish off the marginal ones pretty quickly.---Mike
