In the USA, Iowa is in the heart of the corn belt and
according to Iowa State University,
http://www.extension.iastate.edu/CropNews/2008/0703Robertson.htm
this year the corn was expected to be tasseling by mid-July.
A reasonable extrapolation is that at least half the
nation's 87,300,000 acres of corn
http://www.nass.usda.gov/Newsroom/2008/06_30_2008.asp
this year has been tasseling sometime within the
past 4 weeks. Has anyone heard of any very recent die offs
near tasseling corn?
