What do others do make their hives identifiable if stolen?

I have one brand new hive (mine are normally home made or second hand bought at auction) on a communal garden and orchard where it is used for demonstration, teaching and experimentation and will receive some local publicity. I used a felt tipped pen to write on every outside piece the name of the site, the ink sinking satisfactorily into the cedar wood. OK it could be painted over, but is a thief likely to want the hassle?

Chris
