Thanks for the clarification Christina!  Funny, but my current article in
press also uses a similar analogy--a leaky boat, with the crew bailing
(representing detoxification).  That article and the following one, will
show how there is a great deal more complexity to the system than we have
yet discussed on the List.

Re the interplanting--you are now talking about agroecology, which is the
direction in which agriculture is heading--kinda going back to basics, and
getting away from the constant pests vs pesticides model.
