OK, poor choice of words, although we all know what he means.

Cold can't be conducted--cold is the absence of heat, which is defined as
more rapid molecular motion.

Only heat can be conducted.  Cold materials act as a sink for heat, which
always flows from warm areas to cold, either by radiation, conduction, or
convection.

In the bee-filled space, the bees' bodies and the air trapped between them
would slow all three of those mechanisms for heat transfer, relative to the
conduction and convection through honey, or the radiation through
unobstructed air space.
