>hate to see you on the evening news Joe.
I have observed AHB and you do not want several thousand bees in your face.

>Better safe than sorry and with many hobby beekeepers on the list we need to
promote safe practices.

I agree Bob.
I never promote going without
bee gear on.

I only do so, because of necessity.
I may have a veil on and off several
times during removals because I
have better vision up close when
I remove my glasses and veil.

My resistance to stings is high enough,
that I do not worry much about stings.
I do however, tend to take at least
one, sometimes two stings the face
per removal, but its the price for
finding the queen and speeding
up the removal process.

I also have what is called heat
induced asthma, so thin veils,
or removing the veil frequently
helps me to keep cool and breath
better climbing up and down ladders
etc. Several years ago, I had
asthma exertion in the beeyard
in full bee gear, -I managed to make
it to the shade and took me about
an hour to regain the strength to
get into the truck and back home.
Because of this, I'm careful about
wearing bee gear and over heating.

I've gotten familiar with alarm
pheromone during the later 00's
when hot ferals seemed common.
I've come to know when the level
of odor produced reaches a point
which will cause severe stinging
episodes. If it begins to reach
that point, I will shut it down,
or suit up in full gear.

Best Wishes
Joe Waggle
