Paul H. "Trying to raise cluster temp by insulating the boxes has little effect and in many regions is detrimental due to increased moisture. "....

I believe the reasoning for insulating hives is not to raise cluster temps but to keep the temperature in the hive from fluctuating sharply with outside temps. I agree that it could increase moisture but most of us have a way of taking care of that when they winterize for their area. I am a fan of insulating hives for the winter for my area which is the western Catskills and have success with it.

sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
