I agree that this is a sad commentary, especially since any insecticide 
used to this extent has only a limited expected useful life before the 
pests become resistant to it.
I agree also and because the insecticide is in constant use by the 
plant, pest may become resistant to it much sooner because of the 
constant exposure.
Look what is happening with BT corn.
