= 125,000 average. If each bee made 12.5 trips per day, that's 10,000 bees, or about 3 pounds of bees. Which is the number of foragers that Koulichkov calculated as leaving a hive from 4:45am to 8:45am, when the weight began to rise. This number was also reached by summing the hourly weight changes and subtracting the weight gain at the end of the day. 

Quite interesting discussion!  Been bantering a bit with Tim Ives and a few others this week.  He posted a link to a graph of Randys that shows  number of foragers climbing based on hive size (not straight percentage)

Just casual observation at the entrance it seems the number of foragers does not change in proportion to hive size,  so quite an interesting discussion.
