The upper line confuses me a little, but symetry is still present.

If this were the case then combs in a feral nest would have brood re-started
each season in the first combs deawn...

This is not the case...

refers to the bees starting in the central combs, but these were not the
first ones that the swarm produced, which were off to the left of centre and
not even encompassed in the cluster by the end of winter..
