Hi Bob,

My guess is that your correspondent misspelled "stearate."  As far as I
know, there is no such thing as a "strearate."

You could form an ester from stearic acid, and it would be called a
something stearate.

However, a formic acid ester would be called a "formate," like methyl
formate.
