McGregor restricted this to the typical U.S.   If he'd taken in  to 
consideration the world food consumption habits, I'm sure Allen would be  correct.  
And, he did stretch this to include any insect pollinated crop  consumed by 
animals that we then consume.
 
This often quoted and misused stat in its worst form has been trunicated to 
 every third bite we eat.
