50/50 petroleum jelly and cooking oil applied liberally quite thick will do
the job.
Other vice mites will clime 3 feet on glass I witness it and Jerry Hayes
described it in
His classroom article ABJ April 2004 page273.
Forgot to add hospital food  trays with pad of formic acid do even better
job and last whole summer:
